Floy Christine Brantley Oligney (1929-1992)

Floy Christine BRANTLEY OLIGNEY, Shirley's beloved Mom. She grew up in Breckenridge Texas. Her parents divorced when she was young and she lived with her paternal grandparents for much of her childhood. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was a person that liked to have fun and talked an ear off many a stranger.

Texas Roots

Shirley was born in Ward County TX but raised in Las Cruces, NM. Her 3rd great grandparents were early settlers in Red River County Texas. Henry and Agnes CHIPMAN BRANTLEY settled there between 1839 and 1841.


California Roots

Ron was born and raised in Lancaster, CA. His VASQUEZ family were Monterey residents before and after California statehood. KATHER and ROSSINI families were long time residents of the San Francisco area.


IN MEMORIAM

Jim and Tom LYONS. Shirley's first cousins. Jim (on the left) passed away on 26 Jun 2020 and Tom on 20 May 2012. They are the sons of Helen OLIGNEY LYONS ORNDUFF and Tom LYONS. They are so deeply missed.

INTERESTING ANCESTOR INFORMATION

GOVERNOR PATRICK HENRY, SR. According to Geni.com, Shirley is his 11th cousin 9 times removed through her MCKENZIE/CANNON line. Along this same line is Shirley's 9th great grandfather Col. Robert "Tater Hole" WOODSON. Got his name from his mother hiding him in the potato bin during the Indian raid that killed his father. Also on this line is Shirley's 1st cousin 19 times removed, Joan Beaufort, Queen of Scots

According to Geni.com, Shirley's 8th Great Grandmother, Anne AUBRY, was a Fille du Roi. She was born about 1654 in Paris France. She is in the OLIGNY line.

Someone at Geni.com believes that Shirley's 10th great grandfather was an Algonquin. His name was Etienne Magouch (miteouamigoukoue). He was in Canada and is on the OLIGNY side.
