Ruth's obituary in the Stevens Point Daily Journal of Friday, 26 Oct 1979, says that Ruth taught in schools in Northwestern WI until entering the U.S. Navy on 10 Aug 1944. She was discharged as a chief petty officer on 28 Oct 1953.
